The bridal call was first issued by Harold and Aimee Semple McPherson in June, 1917 (initially from Savannah, GA). Issues for June-August are extant. It is unclear if issues were published for Sept.-Dec. As of Jan. 1918, it was printed and distributed by Samuel Otis of the Christian Workers Union, Framingham, MA. (Otis also published Word and Work.) After her husband withdrew from the ministry, Aimee Semple McPherson continued to evangelize and publish The Bridal Call. Due to illness, Otis was unable to publish issues in early 1919. This coincides with McPherson's move to Los Angeles. For a few months, she published issues from Los Angeles, some designated as 'western edition.' Otis published one last issue in July 1919. Thereafter, the publication originated solely from Los Angeles ('western edition' was no longer used). The last issue in this format was Nov. 1923. An issue for Dec. 1923/Jan 1924 had a new format and was titled, The bridal call Foursquare.
